LNG Charter Rates Hit $100,000/Day

LNG tanker charter rates have topped the $100,000 per day mark. New spot bookings for existing vessels are in the range of $100,000-$120,000/day, an 11% increase over the past month alone that is being attributed largely to high demand from Japan and China. Despite the sharp rise, there's little indication as yet that shipping is costly enough to discourage long-haul voyages.
