Gazprom Profits Soar

Gazprom's net profits surged by almost 66% in the first half of 2005,mainly due to higher international and domestic gas prices.The Russian state-run monopoly reported a net profit of 153.99 billion rubles(5.4 billion)in the six months,in unaudited interim results prepared according to International Accounting Standards(IAS),versus 92.9 billion rubles(3.2 billion)in first-half 2004.
