MARKET INSIGHT BP Continues to Back Natural Gas

BP is putting its money where its mouth is. In line with the UK major's forecasts that natural gas will be the fastest-growing fossil fuel globally over the next 20 years, supported by shale production and LNG, the company is hoisting gas' share of its portfolio to about 60% by the end of the decade from roughly half now. Unveiling BP's 2016 Energy Outlook last week, Chief Executive Bob Dudley said gas projects such as Egypt's West Nile Delta, Oman's Khazzan and Shah Deniz in Azerbaijan are "on course and on budget." He said the company is "very aware of our part in the transition to a lower-carbon economy. More gas will help with that and we have a sizeable growing renewable business as well, which is making inroads in efficiency."
