Centrica Makes Up for Dutch Deficit

The UK's largest utility Centrica last week expanded its term gas supplies from Statoil and Gazprom — as it faces the prospect of its largest import contract, from the Netherlands, ending next year. A 10-year deal with Statoil signed 2011, whereby Centrica starts lifting this October ending 2025, has been raised from the original 5 Bcm/yr to 7.3 Bcm/yr, meaning a total of 73 Bern will be delivered (IOD Nov.22'11). A deal with London-based Gazprom Marketing and Trading in 2012, whereby Centrica began lifting 2.4 Bcm/yr last October for three years — for a total of 7.2 Bern — is also revamped (IOD Sep.21'12). Now the delivery period will be seven years until 2021 and the total upped to 29.1 Bern. This means that, less the amount already delivered, the average volume going forward will now be 4.16 Bcm/yr.
