The Greek debt crisis — and delays privatizing state-run gas firm Depa — helped scuttle the Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI) pipeline's chances of being chosen by the BP-led Shah Deniz consortium as the preferred export route for Azeri natural gas to Italy in favor of the rival Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
