Cargoes due into the UK and Italy this week will represent firsts of their kind. A Norwegian cargo from Snohvit LNG will be the first imported by Malaysian state Petronas into the UK on its scheduled Aug. 6 arrival at Dragon LNG at Milford Haven aboard the Arctic Princess, while Italy's first new terminal in nearly 40 years, Adriatic LNG, is apparently poised for a delivery from Qatar. Petronas has 50% of Dragon's 6 billion cubic meter (4.4 million ton) per year capacity. The facility's first cargo was imported from Trinidad Jul. 1-4 by BG, which owns the other 50% (WGI Jul.29,p5). Petronas is understood to have paid a UK-related price exceeding the netback that the cargo's marketer StatoilHydro would have made by taking the LNG to Cove Point, Maryland, in the US.
