Exxon Dips Toe Into China Gas Market

Exxon Mobil looks set to make its first foray into the mainland Chinese gas market with a feasibility study for an LNG receiving terminal in Guangdong province.The study will be spearheaded by Hong Kong utility CLP,which said last week that it was abandoning its proposal to build an LNG terminal on the territory's South Soko Island following signing of a gas renewal deal between the Hong Kong government and Beijing(WGI Sep.3,p2).
