Brazil Drafts Gas Law

Brazil's government is drafting a new gas law that if approved would deregulate gas pipeline transport,which today remains a monopoly of state oil company Petrobras.If passed,the law would open to competition the last remaining government-controlled segment of Brazil's growing energy sector.One major concern of energy companies is the lack of open access on Brazil's pipeline network,a situation that if unchanged would force gas producing companies to sell all of their output to Petrobras,still the country's dominant oil producer.
