With the Southern Hemisphere summer fast approaching, Argentina has delayed taking delivery of three LNG cargoes and canceled a fourth after overestimating demand. The problems have been created by unexpectedly hot weather, according to state energy company Enarsa, which handles the imports on behalf of state-controlled YPF. Enarsa told WGI that the delayed cargoes had been scheduled to unload at the 3.5 million ton per year Bahia Blanca terminal this month, and the canceled cargo, for which Enarsa will have to pay a penalty, at the 3.5 million ton/yr Escobar terminal by the end of October. The two terminals have very limited storage capacity, which creates problems for imports if send-out drops on weaker demand, according to YPF board member and former Rnergy Minister Emilio Apud.
