More than a dozen LNG projects are at various stages of development in British Columbia, but not all have what it takes to succeed. Four received export approval in mid-December from Canada's National Energy Board (NEB) — BG's Prince Rupert LNG, Exxon Mobil's West Coast Canada LNG, Malaysian Petronas' Pacific Northwest LNG and the smaller Woodfibre LNG. They added to the three that already had the green light — the Royal Dutch Shell-led LNG Canada, the Apache-Chevron Kitimat LNG, and BC LNG Export Cooperative, backed by the Haisla First Nations. None, however, has yet taken a final investment decision.
