摘要

Emissions-conscious China could emerge as a big outlet for technology from geothermal-savvy Iceland following the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) earlier this year. The FTA, the first between China and a European country, was drawn up with geothermal energy in mind: Iceland derives about 25% of its electricity and 90% of its heating from geothermal resources — heat from the earth — and the two countries have been talking to each other about geothermal power since the 1980s.
