Liquidity on Europe's major gas trading hubs continued to grow overall in 2012, but slowed on the largest, the UK's National Balancing Point (NBP), where volumes also slipped in the first quarter of this year. Nonetheless, the ratio of total traded volumes to physical activity in 2012 — the so-called churn factor — may have been 24-to-1 for NBP and 18-to-1 for the Dutch TTF hub, its nearest rival on the continent.
