Developing Countries - FAO/WHO Capacity Building Programme Forges Ahead

The subject of Capacity Building in developing countries was given prominence at the recent deliberations of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) in Geneva during June and July 2004. It was recognised that regulatory systems and infrastructure, need to conform to the new international trade environment following the Uruguay round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations and subsequent agreements on the application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures and on Technical Barrierss to Trade (TBT).
