China, Southeast Asian nations to boost agricultural trade, cooperation

Bangkok - At a summit from November 2-5 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, leaders from China and the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) signed a series of agreements marking important steps forward in agricultural trade and cooperation,sources told WFRR. Under a pact signed on November 2 by Chinese Vice-Minister of Agriculture Qi Jingfa and ASEAN Secretary-General Rudolfo Severino, China has agreed to provide training to officials from ASEAN member countries - Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia - in specialized agriculture and aquaculture techniques.
