Trunk damage sustained from extreme cold in the Eastern U.S. is the gateway to perennial canker and eventual tree-dieoff.AS predicted by the Farmer's Almanac, the winter of 2014 proved to be a season of cold temperatures and large amounts of snow throughout much of the U.S. Greg Peck, assistant professor of horticulture at Virginia Tech University, says that after the coldand snowy winter he is hearing reports of young trees being hit with Southwest injury.
