PREMIER Vineyard Estates, LLC, an investment group comprised of several prominent players in the winegrape industry recently purchased Wallula Vineyard of Horse Heaven Hills, WA. Wallula Vineyard is considered a prime site for winegrapes because of a- variety of elements. These include the diverse microclimates resulting from the property's ascent from the edge of the Columbia River to 1,350 feet above sea level. In addition, the Columbia River acts as a massive insulator, causing heat to accumulate quickly and create temperatures on the lower slopes that are ideal for ultra-premium reds. The lower section of the property averages above 3,200 heat units annually. Due to these beneficial conditions, 73% of the vineyard is planted with red varieties.
