The California Association of Winegrape Growers weighs in at early hearings for the 2007 Farm Bill. THE next Farm Bill is not slated for legislative review until 2007. However, in conjunction with the House Agriculture Committee's series of Farm Billhearings, some groups in the fruit industry are already making their voices heard. Bruce Fry, treasurer of the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG), was one of 12 California growers to testify at a hearing in Stockton, CA, on March 3. During his testimony before the Committee, Fry, a fifth-generation grower with Mohr Fry Ranch in Lodi, CA, said, "We view the rewrite of the Farm Bill as a chance to partner with government to invest in fundamental programs that will enhance all of agriculture's ability to continue to be competitive in the global market."
