EXPERIMENTAL results from opposite ends of Californa's Central Valley are indicating that the solution to almond hull rot is as simple as temporarily turning down the water. This startling information is coming out of Dave Goldhamer's long-term test plot on deficit irrigation strategies at University of California's (UC) Kearney Ag Center near Fresno, and from an investigation by UC extension agent Wilbur Reil into better nut removal in a commercial almond orchard in Yolo County, CA.
