AFTER the devastation of this past spring, many California almond growers I are faced with replanting toppled orchards and getting back into production as quickly as possible. For some, the task is complicated by having to replant on class II or III soils. For those growers, information that is being generated by University of California farm advisor John Edstrom and extension specialist Warren Micke on high density, or hedgerow, planting systems for almonds should be of great practical interest.
