Scale Dealers Move Toward Expanded Services

Weighing & Measurement explores some of the ways dealers are moving into calibration of other devices. Machinist and manufacturers have used them for years: calipers, micrometers, digital voltmeters, thermometers, pressure and vacuum transducers, gage blocks and gauges. Today, these devices require stringent calibration to traceable standards not unlike scales and balances. With the advent of ISO-9000 standards and new initiatives for "saying what you do and proving that you do what you say", demand is increasing for outside third party vendors to test and report accuracy on these devices on a routine basis.
