The banks are fighting back against the advances of non-bank financiers, with their own operating lease and other flexible financial packages for equipment owners.National Australia Bank, with its dedicated Commercial Fleet Division for the trucking industry, is pushing the message that banks are no longer simply money lenders.The division was set up by NAB after recognizing the fierce competition among commercial car and truck leasing companies, the push for a higher return on their investment and the growing willingness of the road transport industry to consider finance packages that were outside the square of traditional arrangements.
