Role of temperature and stretching force on the effectiveness of the stabilizing treatment of prestressing steel wires
Mechanical properties of wires after five industrial stress-relieving treatments were evaluated, considering the influence of temperature and stretching force levels. In an effort to create a better value, manufacturers constantly strive to produce prestressing steel not only with high tensile strength but also with lower stress relaxation losses and improved durability. Advances in the performance of steel wire tensioning elements have contributed significantly to the development of both prestressed and post-tensioned concrete sections used in the construction industry. In this sense, the appearance of a special stress relieving treatment after drawing, called "stabilizing," has been considered an authentic progress for prestressed concrete construction.
