Nexans awarded 25 million US dollars cable contract

Nexans announced that it has been awarded a 25 million US dollars contract from the Public Power Corporation of Greece for the supply and installation of submarine and terrestrial cables that will link Sagiada in Greece to Agios Vassilios on the island of Corfu. A press release said that the new high-voltage transmission link, which will support increasing demand for power and telecommunication capacity on Corfu Island, will have 175 MW capacity. Nexans will design and manufacture four single lengths of 150kV LPOF (Low Pressure Oil Filled) cables and two fiber optic cables, about 17 km each, for the submarine part, it said. The 68 km 150kV submarine cables will be spooled onboard the vessel C/S Skagerrak, to be transported from Norway to Greece, the release said, adding that the cables will be installed at a maximum water depth of about 70 m.
