摘要

The Omkareshwar reservoir had been planned for first filling during March 2008. However, before the initial filling, assessment of Rabi crop coming under submergence was required for compensation purposes, if required. Due to time constraints and importance of the studies, before filling of reservoir and traditional methods of estimating cultivated crop being time consuming, human incentive and costly, alternative of using satellite data for assessment of crop in the submergence area was selected. Considering advantages of remote sensing, this work was got carried out by National remote sensing agency, NRSA-Hydrabad.
