Tehri Hydro Power Plant (HPP) is an underground powerhouse. It is equipped with four vertical Francis turbines, each of 250 MW capacity. Turbines and their auxiliaries have been supplied by M/s Power Machines, Moscow. This article describes the salient features of their turbine and its auxiliaries provided in the powerhouse. Tehri Dam Project is a multipurpose river valley project. The live storage capacity of dam is 2615 mm~3. For utilizing this stored water for power benefits, four nos. Francis turbines each of 250MW capacity are installed at Tehri Hydro Power Plant (HPP). The turbine and its auxiliaries have been manufactured by M/s Turboatom, Ukraine and supplied by M/s Power Machines, Moscow, Russia. Fig. 1 shows the section through turbine.
