1.1 The state power utilities which came into existence immediately after independence (1947), have transmission lines and sub-stations, which are as old as 60 years or more. The power system of the country then was in infancy. The equipment used in the transmission system were totally imported in the initial stage and there after produced in the country with the collaboration and using western technologies.
