From photographing frontline operations in Afghanistan and Iraq to military training exercises in Africa, and passing-out parades at Sandhurst military college, a career as an Army photographer guarantees challenging assignments that will take you all over the world. Corporal Ian Forsyth is one of about 40 handpicked Army photographers attached to the Royal Logistical Corps (RLC) photographic branch. His role within this small, dedicated unit is twofold: to teach specialist operational photographic techniques to other members of the Armed Forces, and to gather images that can be used internally or passed on to around the world - a function the Army calls Media Operations. Through his work in Media Operations, Corporal Forsyth has photographed Army exercises in Kenya, D-Day commemorations in France, as well as ongoing operations in Iraq. We caught up with Corporal Forsyth to quiz him about his role and the equipment he uses to fulfil it.
