Correction of TOPEX altimeter data error and its preliminary results in application

摘要

TOPEX/POSEIDON is an altimetric satellite mission jointly conducted by NASA, the US and CNES, France. The mission made precise and accurate observations of the global sea level for thr ee years (possibly extending to another two years). This greatly pushes the research of global ocean circulation forward. But recently, an error was found in correcting the instrument drift of TOPEX altimeter data, which made the estimated rising rate of the global mean sea level large. The altimeter data covering from1992-12 to 1994-12 used in this work was provided by the Center of Space Research, the USA. We corrected the error of TOPEX altimeter data first, In this study by using the TOPEX/POSEIDON data, the global and regional sea-level changes as well as theirrelations with the Earth rotation and ENSO phenomena were preliminarily analyzed and revealed.
