Ben Leman is president of Merrimac Manufacturing in Plantersville, Texas, which produces mud pump parts and washpipe assemblies for well service and drilling companies. "This is my passion," says Ben. "I live, eat and sleep mud pump parts and enjoy every minute of it." Born in Magnolia, Texas, Leman grew up surrounded by his family's second-generation oil and gas business. His father was president and chief engineer of Southwest Oilfield Products, which manufactured fluid end expendables and modules for mud pumps. "My family has been designing, servicing, improving and manufacturing fluid end expendables for 65 years," says Ben. "My first job with the family business was being a swamper when I was in eighth grade. I cleaned parts, deburred parts, swept floors and drove the forklift."
