Pioneer Reaches 100-Rig Milestone

Pioneer Well Services, part of San Antonio-based Pioneer Drilling Company, recently put its 100th rig into service, working in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas. The achievement highlights an eight-year growth record that transformed a five-rig startup into the sixth-largest well servicing company in the U.S. "I don't think there are very many well-servicing companies that have grown to 100 rigs as quickly as Pioneer," says Well Services Business Manager Daniel Hindes. The newest rig, a 550-horsepower unit, joins a growing fleet that features similar late model, high horsepower, American-made rigs.
