After severe disruption during 2014, the pig industries of Eastern Europe seem to have started stabilising, which makes the future of locally based pig companies more certain. The price fluctuations in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and the Baltic States ended, but there are still some concerns that the epizootic situation in the short-term may get worse. The traditional problem of the spread of African swine fever (ASF) in 2015 may be complicated by the presence of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv).
