Continental pig prices were continuing to rise as Pig World went to press, and British shout prices are expected to follow them upwards. It is too early for tighter continental supplies to have been driven by producers quitting in response to high feed costs. Therefore the price rally may falter. However as autumn progresses continental slaughterings will fall by around 2 percent and there will be a further decline next year as some producers are driven out by the partial stalls ban and a greater number stop serving sows in response to mounting losses caused by continuing high feed costs.
