摘要

The reason for longitudinal hot cracking at the end of the plate during one sided submerged arc welding of large plates in the prefabrication of shipbuilding is indicated. Different methods can be used to decrease the speed of cross displacementat the end of the plates which has been simulated by means of FEM. Among the different methods proposed-root weld, second weld from opposite direction, heating of the external plate edges during welding-the last one seems to be particularly efficient toprevent hot cracks.
