Yellow nutsedge control in roundup ready alfalfa

A field study was established to evaluate glyphosate applications for controlling yellow nutsedge (CYPES) in glyphosate resistant alfalfa. Alfalfa was seeded February 26, 2006. Plots were 10 by 25 ft arranged in a randomized complete block design withfour replications. All herbicide treatments were applied with a CO_2 pressurized backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 20 gpa (Table 1). Treatments were applied after the first cutting June 15, 2006, after the second cutting July 17, 2006 and after the third cutting on August 10, 2006. Yellow nutsedge control was visually evaluated July 17, August 10, September 5 and September 18, 2006 (Table 2).
