Metallogenic age of Bayan Obo main ore deposit using fission track method

摘要

The Bayan Obo REE-Fe ore deposit is the most famous super-large REE deposit in the world. It has attracted much attention of many geologists. However, there still exist some divergences in the genesis of the deposit, metallogenic epoch and the originof metallogenic materials. Although many methods, for example, Sm-Nd, U-Pb, Rb-Sr, K-Ar have been used to determine the metallogenic age, the measured values have great changeable ranges, from 100 to 2 000 Ma. This is because it is difficult to find outthe minerals or rocks which were formed at the same time with the ore deposit and are suitable for age measurement. In this note, we report the metallogenic age of Bayan Obo main ore deposit using fission track method.
