Today, soil bioengineering methods are commonly used for riverbank protection in river restoration works. Yet all such work revolves around one main issue: the limit of resistance to hydrodynamic stress. Tests show that different soil bioengineeringmethods produce different resistance levels and that the best results are obtained by methods which include the entire riverbank (brush mattress, fascines). The stability of soil bioengineering methods is also influenced by a number of dynamic and localfactors.
