Economic aspects of planning, operation and monitoring of ultra-filtration plant

Following epidemics resulting from drinking water in several parts of the United States, problems of parasite contamination of water has been seriously discussed in Europe. Especially in surface waters, or in water which is influenced from the surface, Chryptosporidia and Giardia have been found. These parasites are responsible for infection. Ultrafiltration water treatment has proved to be a successful new method to remove parasites, bacteria and viruses. In recent years many tests have been carried but, and the first orders have been placed for large scale plant, most of them in Great Britain, which has given the technology a boost. An overview is given of economic aspects of lay-out, construction, operation, and maintenance of ultrafiltration plant.
