摘要

Drained, former wetlands are a source of nutrients, especially nitrogen. With a rewetting project the chances were tested how to convert groundwater-fed, drained peatland into a sink of nutrients in combination with the cultivation of a non-food crop. Surface-flow wetlands were established with the aim of investigating nitrogen and phosphorus storage. The wetlands were fed by nutrient-rich ditch water. Over two years these wetlands were converted from a source of nutrients to a sink. Denitrificationis a precondition, otherwise the redox potential drops to a level where phosphorus and partly nitrogen are released.
