Nowadays, even the most no-frills model is priced at over ￡30,000. The increase is due to several factors: the cost of the many improvements to the VW Transporter itself, the decline of the Pound against the Euro raising the prices of 'vans and of the many items used in their conversion, home-grown inflation and, not least, the increase in VAT to 20 per cent.
