Star City

Star City, or Zvyozdny Gorodok, sits roughly 30 km north-east of Moscow. Invisible on the map throughout the Soviet era, the cosmonaut training camp and its population of 8000 has been in existence since the early 1960s. After the lean post-Communist years, Star City is again a part of Russia's foreign policy under Putin, funded by the country's prosperity, and acts as a flow space for tourists taking the 8-month intensive training programme.
