Use of different fuels in gas turbines

Aided by liberalization of the power markets worldwide, the low investment costs, high efficiencies, short construction periods and moderate natural gas prices have resulted in a boom in gas turbine sales. All solid, liquid and gaseous fuels can be used today in combined-cycle power plants in ways that are energy-efficient and environmentally sound. Therefore, more electrical power can be generated using fewer resources (fuel, materials and capital), with a lower environmental burden as well. Reduced material flow and waste-heat volume mean diminished space requirements, as well as lower operating and maintenance costs compared to the steam power plant.
