Efficient remote control of distributed plants and installations

Remote monitoring of power generation plants and of other utility supply or disposal facilities is always particularly difficult if the operating points to be monitored are distributed over a wide area and rim automatically, with no stationary network present. In response to this situation, the Engineering Services division of swb Synor has developed the a-Syn remote monitoring system. Using the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system from Siemens, this allows remote control of distributed power generation plants. It also permits remote servicing for them through a dynamic dial-up connection - either ISDN or analogue - via the phone network, including that of Deutsche Telekom, the German phone company, without any need for an online link.
