New demands on OEM power plant services

Deregulation has brought about changes in the power market that cause utilities to intensify their efforts to reduce power generation costs in order to assure their competitiveness. The operation and maintenance activities in power plants play a major role in this cost-oriented approach. The most crucial measures in this regard are increasing the operational flexibility of the plants and making sure that power-trading decisions are well-founded. This is done by improving the information management and minimising the power production costs. In response to the changes in the staff structures of utility companies, OEMs are beginning to expand their range of services and increase their personnel capacities with the intent to offer cost-optimised service solutions to their customers in the utility industry that are founded on their longstanding expertise in the power generation business.
