Co-combustion of special fuels in the Zolling power station of E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH

For the reduction of high fuel cost in a coal-fired power plant remote to the coast and "dry", it was inevitable to deal with special and substitute fuels. Since the beginning of the 90s the Zolling plant has been dealing with petrol coke, sewage sludge, dried wood, waste wood and plastic screenings. The experience made upon the combustion of some of these substitute fuels, the limits in comparison to mere coal combustion and the necessary efforts are outlined.
