Pilot tests, at a current strength of 160 kA , were conducted - from August, 1986 through February, 1987 - on slightly-calcined alumina (SPG) in electrolyzers with roasted anodes (OA). SKG was obtained from a fluidized-bed furnace (KS) in the Nikolaevsk Alumina Plant (NGZ), with a productivity of 32-34 tons/hr. One line of electrolyzers in the Tadzhik Aluminum Plant (TadAZ) served as an experimental group of aluminum baths for use of this alumina and determined the possibility of transport only SPG to an area near silo No. 11, using it to feed the baths in the experimental line. Electrolyzers - both standard as well as those in the experimental line - were treated by MNR 8 times a day. During the research, control was exercised over the physico-chemical characteristics of initial aluminum hydroxide and oxide after passing through a calcination furnace, as well as the commercial alumina supplied by NGZ.
