At the moment, the attention of standards is mainly concentrating on the sealing criteria. Other functional aspects of the sealing system should not be overlooked: easy manoeuvre, fire safe solution, chemical compatibility, no corrosion, without forgetting the needs on the field: the imperative of better and cheaper production which obliges the companies to optimise their maintenance and rationalise the various qualities of sealing products. This article will try to demonstrate the necessity of associating to the sealing criteria required by the regulations concerning the fugitive emissions functional parameters that guarantee the good function of the component and as well the security of men as equipment on the field.
