Representing the biggest launch in Renault Trucks' 100 year history, last month saw the French truck manufacturer occupy the whole of the exhibition grounds in Lyon in order to unveil to some 9,500 people, a completely new range of trucks from 3.5t to 44t gcw and above for delivery, distribution, construction and long distance applications, all ready for the Euro 6 emissions deadline, which becomes mandatory for all new trucks 3.5t gvw and above from January 1, 2014. A summary of the new vehicles is outlined in a separate article in this issue. The new truck range marks a new era for Renault Trucks and as one of five brands of the Volvo Group (Volvo, Eicher, Mack and UD Trucks being the four others). The importance of the brand to the Group and the desire to expand its market share globally was summed up by Olof Persson, CEO of the Volvo Group who, at the launch, said: "This is one of the largest investments in the Volvo Group ever, involving the complete renewal of the Renault Trucks range. We want to become the world leader in sustainable transport solutions."
