Michelin India to supply own truck/bus market needs by 2015: Chennai training centre gets underway

As PETE SELLECK, vice-president of Michelin's Truck and Bus division, recently mentioned the Challenge Bibendum event in Berlin, Michelin aims to supply 100 per cent of its truck and bus tyre market in India from its Rs 40 billion (￡560 million) plant currently under construction near Chennai by 2015. The facility, being built on a 117 hectare site in Thervoy Kandigai, is scheduled to enter production next year with an initial annual capacity of 300,000 truck and bus tyres. The tyres manufactured there, Selleck added, will be "suited for the specific requirements" of the Indian market.
