Present study was aimed to determine variability and importance in selection criteria of physiological and yield attributing traits to achieve successful breeding programs. Analysis of variance for all quantitative and physiological traits studied, revealed significant differences, indicated the presence of adequate genetic variability among the crosses and their parents. High phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) was obtained for chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, grain yield per pi an t, tot a I chlorophyll (a+b), number of effective tillers per plant and biological yield per plant. Heritability with high genetic advance as percent of mean was observed high for days to 50% flowering, plant height, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, days to maturity, spike length, total chlorophyll, number of grain per spike and grain filling period. 11 ence,thesc traits were least influenced by environment and might showed least genotype x environment interaction. Thereforethis investigation revealed that these physiological traits along with other yield attributes have great opportunity to be adopted as selection criteria in future wheat breeding programs to enhance yield.
