One day a week I do some work for a businessman/farmer nearby. Just general maintenance on his property where he runs a few cattle, has a chestnut grove and lots of trees that seem always to be dropping limbs over fences, occasionally going over in storms. The usual stuff on a rural property. Generally it falls on me to clean up the trees or limbs. I cut the heavier firewood-size logs up into blocks but I draw the line at splitting them as the owner is happy to do that, but recently he purchased a powered hydraulic log splitter and asked me to use it to split some firewood. Since I wasn't expected to swing an axe or block splitter all day (I am getting older) I was happy to oblige but, as anyone who has used a hydraulic log splitter will tell you, often it's quite a challenge to get the logs to the machine, especially big rounds.
